The viscometer PCE-RVI 10 measures viscosity by detecting the mechanical resistance of a liquid against the rotational movement of a spindle, resulting in torque that the device converts into a viscosity value. With an accuracy of ±1.0%, this rotary viscometer is highly precise despite its broad measuring range of 10 to 2,000,000 cP or mPa*s. An immersion resistance temperature sensor on the viscometer measures liquid temperatures between 0 and 100 °C (0 and 212 °F).
This viscometer is often used in quality control for oils, which can change viscosity with temperature. The rotary viscometer’s timer function allows it to operate independently for a set period, transferring measurement data to a PC via the RS232 interface. The accompanying software graphically and tabularly displays the temperature and viscosity profiles. Additionally, an optional printer can be connected directly to the viscometer to print the measured values.
The viscometer adapts to various environments with height-adjustable feet, ensuring the measuring spindle remains vertical in the medium. A bubble level on the head of the viscometer assists with proper alignment. The height of the test device can also be adjusted by approximately 25 cm to position the spindle correctly.
